“Begin with curiosity, take a breath and understand that it is okay to be perfectly imperfect.”

Ara Studios is a community based yoga Studio founded by a mother and daughter inspired to share the traditional yoga values in an affordable, authentic and modern environment. Ara Studios vision began in a humble Karate dojo in 2015 offering $5 yoga classes making yoga accessible for EVERYONE. In the early days Ara Studios ran one class a week, taught by one of two teachers with a full class being 6 students.

Why Yoga? Yoga offers individuals the opportunity to connect and learn about themselves in a quiet supportive environment. Yoga offers practitioners the space to move mindfully, connect with breath and explore their thoughts and feelings. Yoga is a therapeutic way to help individuals release tension in the mind and body and helps them to find balance in their day to day busy lives. We have been practicing Yoga for 7 years. For the past 4 years we have been working in the community teaching Yoga in schools, work places, gyms and studios throughout Hamilton. We believe that teaching Yoga in the community encourages people to not only get to know themselves but also others who practice too, forming connection, friendships and the strong sense of community which Ara Studios is all about. In today’s busy, technology driven lifestyle, the real sense of community spirit is hard to cultivate. We have seen the healing and binding effect that Yoga has on people. Yoga offers the community the opportunity to look at life through non-judgmental eyes. It reminds people that life takes practice and does not need to be a performance. Yoga teaches people to help each other out, rather than compete with one another. There are many great life lessons taught in the Yoga practice.

We believe yoga is a personal journey for each individual no matter who you are, where you come from, what size you are, what beliefs you have and is not determined by strength or flexibility. At Ara we encourage you to begin with curiosity, take a breath and understand that it is okay to be perfectly imperfect.
